The Venetian Macao (澳门威尼斯人)
One of the world's largest casino resorts with indoor Venetian canals
Overview
The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel is one of the world's largest casino and integrated resorts, modeled after its sister property in Las Vegas but built on an even grander scale. The centerpiece is its three indoor canals — the Grand Canal, San Luca Canal, and Marco Polo Canal — where singing gondoliers pole authentic Venetian gondolas beneath hand-painted fresco ceilings that mimic a blue Venetian sky. Even non-gamblers find the spectacle worth half a day: the scale is genuinely impressive, with over 300 luxury boutiques, themed restaurants, and people-watching that is impossible to replicate anywhere else in Asia.
Key Features
- Gondola Rides: MOP165–195 per person depending on canal and time (about 15–20 minutes). Available on indoor Grand Canal and outdoor lagoon. Singing gondoliers serenade passengers in Italian and Mandarin.
- Grand Canal Shoppes: Over 330 retail stores spanning luxury brands (Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Hermès), international fashion, beauty, and lifestyle under Venetian arched walkways.
- Gaming Floor: Approximately 550,000 square feet (around 51,000 square meters) of casino space, making it one of the largest in the world. Foreign visitors should bring their passport for entry (minimum age 21).
- Dining: 50+ restaurants ranging from Michelin-recommended Cantonese (e.g., Canton) to casual food court fare, international buffets, and the popular North American-style food emporiums.
- Cotai Arena: 15,000-seat venue hosting international concerts, sports events, and exhibitions throughout the year.
- Connected resorts: Indoor air-conditioned walkways link directly to The Parisian Macao, The Londoner Macao, and Four Seasons, so you can explore multiple resorts without stepping outside.

Taxi: Tell the driver "Wai Ni Si Ren" (威尼斯人) — universally recognized on the Cotai Strip.
Visitor Tips
- Dress code: Smart casual in gaming areas. Neat T-shirts, collared shirts, jeans, and clean sneakers are acceptable. Beachwear, flip-flops, sleeveless tops on men, and excessively casual shorts are not permitted on the casino floor.
- Photography: Allowed freely in shopping areas, canals, and public lobbies. Photography is not permitted at gaming tables or slot machine areas.
- Visit duration: Allow 2–3 hours just to walk the canals, browse the shops, and people-watch; longer if dining or shopping seriously.
- Gondola tip: The outdoor gondola on the lagoon offers better photos with natural light; the indoor version has the full painted-sky experience. Both are good.
- Best time for gondola: Late afternoon for soft light through the skylights; fewer queues on weekday mornings.
- Free WiFi: Available throughout the resort; no VPN needed — Google and social media work normally in Macau.
