Our Mission
Macau Travel Guide exists to help international visitors experience Macau authentically, safely, and without the common pitfalls that catch first-time travelers. We focus on practical, verified information — not sponsored content, not press releases, not AI-generated fluff.
Macau is a uniquely fascinating destination: a UNESCO World Heritage city with 450 years of Sino-Portuguese history, a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, and home to some of the world's most spectacular integrated resorts. It deserves better than generic listicles and outdated blog posts.
Who Writes This Guide?
Our team consists of Macau residents, long-term expats, and frequent visitors who collectively have over 20 years of on-the-ground experience living, working, and traveling in Macau SAR.
We don't accept free hotel stays, comped meals, or sponsored payments in exchange for coverage. Every restaurant we recommend is one where we've paid for our own meal. Every attraction we write about is one we've personally visited. Every price we quote has been cross-checked against official sources and recent on-the-ground visits.
Our Editorial Standards
- We visit every place we recommend. If we haven't been there ourselves, we don't write about it — or we clearly state that the information comes from a trusted secondary source.
- We verify prices against official sources. We cross-reference the Macao Government Tourism Office, attraction websites, transport operator sites, and venue menus. Prices are stated in Macau Pataca (MOP) or Hong Kong Dollars (HKD) as appropriate.
- We disclose limitations. Prices, opening hours, and entry policies change. We tell you when we last verified information and remind you to check official sources before your trip.
- We correct our mistakes. If you spot an error, let us know and we will investigate and correct it promptly.
- We don't do sponsored content. Advertising on this site is clearly labeled and served through ad networks; it does not influence our editorial recommendations.
Fact-Checking & Verification
We regularly cross-reference information against the following official sources:
- Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) — official tourist information, events, and visitor advice
- Macau Public Security Police Force (Immigration Department) — visa and entry requirements
- Macao Light Rapid Transit (MLRT) — LRT fares, routes, and schedules
- Macau Museum — historical information and admission details
- Macau Transport Bureau — public transport and taxi information
- Individual attraction, restaurant, and resort websites for opening hours and ticket prices
Our last full site-wide content audit was completed in June 2026.
What This Guide Is Not
- We are not a booking service. We don't sell flights, hotels, or tours.
- We are not an official government website. For the most authoritative visa, customs, or legal information, always verify with the relevant Macau SAR government department.
- We are not responsible for the content of external websites linked from this guide.
